It is time for The People of the United States to step into the instant communication age using the Internet or even paper mail! Let’s give The People (registered voters) with two-thirds of a quorum the ability to recall any member of a local, state, or federal government, including Supreme Court Justices, and even the president of the United States! Let’s give the majority of a quorum of The People the ability to petition and vote on any new initiative.
“Let’s give the House Of Representatives the power to replace the President”(TM) whenever the President is contrary to The People on a critical issue. Perhaps a majority vote is all that is needed. The President will have the opportunity to cooperate with the Representatives of The People before the “President Replacement Vote”(TM) is taken. The President will become a leader of The People, not a leader of his own causes. A leader who knows how to get things done, things that The People want done. The President will wake up each morning thinking, “What do The People want me to do.”(TM) Not, “What do I want to do.”(TM) “Finally Government of The People, by The People, and for The People!”(TM)
The Brits are laughing at US! Their Prime Minister can not shut down the British Government or oppose the wish of The British People on a critical issue! Their Prime Minister can be replaced by a vote in Parliament.
For Example:
If the House had this power, on December 20, 2018, 2 days before the Shutdown, the Majority Leader of the House could have asked President Trump, “Will you relinquish your $5.7 Billion Wall and sign our appropriations bill?” If the President said yes, that would be the end of it. However, if the President said no, the Majority Leader could say, “If you do not sign our appropriations bill without funding for your Wall by High Noon tomorrow, The House of Representatives, the Representatives of The People, will replace you with a new President who will sign. We have already voted! You have until High Noon tomorrow to sign.”
Note: The majority of The People may be for the Wall, but few Americans are for the Shutdown. The critical issue, in this case, is the Shutdown, not the Wall. A CBS News poll found that 71% of Americans considered the border wall not worth the shutdown.
This debilitating U.S. Government shutdown was caused hundreds of years ago when the states feared a too-powerful new Federal Government. The Federal Government was broken into 3 branches to hamper its power. The reason for this fear is in those days, those bygone days, most Americans could not read, and news traveled at HORSE speed, taking months to reach all the states and more months to return an answer. The Federal Government was far away doing things few Americans could understand. Things have changed during those hundreds of years since the U.S. Constitution was ratified: most Americans can read and/or watch the news, and news now travels at LIGHT speed, that’s 7 times around the earth in ONE second.
Another thing has changed since 1776. The World now changes at a much quicker pace. The Federal Government needs to act fast to keep up. If our government is hindered by this old-fashioned idea of hindering government, The People will lose out very quickly. A new incident could happen in which the President is contrary to The People on a critical issue.
All Americans can now know what’s going on within The House of Representatives, The Senate, The Presidency, The Supreme Court, and the World within seconds of a new issue. The People could now be its own check on the Federal Government. The checks and balances required in the 18th century no longer are required in the 21st century. In fact, these outdated checks and balances are now a tremendous hindrance to modern Americans. These outdated checks and balances should now be eliminated.
Why The House of Representatives? Our Representatives in The House are closest to The People, because every House member is subjected to The People’s vote every two years, and each member represents the same number of The People.
Shutdown Danger: Often when a new President is elected, The House and Senate are won by The President’s party. However, 2 years later, if The People are not happy with the President, The People usually elect a majority of the opposition party in The House, since ALL members of The House have to face an election EVERY TWO YEARS! In contrast, one-third of The Senate faces an election every two years. Conflicts between the House and the President often arise and can Shutdown The People’s Government!
The Senate could request a Replacement vote at any time.
Yes, we do have impeachment, but that requires a crime and can take a very long time. Replacing a President could be done in hours, if the issue is critical!
During Presidential Elections, instead of voting for the Electoral College, we could vote for the President and Vice President Team of our choice by voting for our local House of Representatives that supports that President. Perhaps we should replace today’s invisible, non-binding, perhaps even biased Electoral College with our ELECTED House of Representatives!
In reality, the President will be up for election every two years. And the President will always have to follow the wish of The People on ALL critical issues!
The President will wake up each morning thinking, “What do The People want me to do.”(TM) Not, “What do I want to do.”(TM) “Finally Government of The People, by The People, and for The People!”(TM)
Let’s step all the way into the 21st Century. Let us have every registered voter vote on every Federal Government issue they consider critical. The Peoples’ vote can be taken in a few hours electronically, or a few days by land mail. The vote of The People could decide the issue or could influence government members’ votes. (Idea suggested by WTC57)
Perhaps the voters could, at any time, vote on replacing their Federal Government House Representative, their Senator, any Supreme Court Judge, and even the President and Vice President. A petition by a certain percentage of The People could require a replacement vote or recall election.
“The Judges of the Supreme Court often have views that are decades out of focus.”(TM) They are chosen by the President and approved by Congress for LIFE! To have a true Government of The People, by The People, and for The People, Judges contrary to The People need to be replaced by The People or by a vote in The House of Representatives!

Ask your elected leaders to set up a method so The People can vote to influence elected leaders on issues or for recalls. An amendment is not needed for The People to vote to influence their elected leaders.
